What if I told you there was a car boot sale where you could snap up hot designer pieces at cutprice prices?
I know, it sounds like heaven, eh? But trust me, it exists. I’ve been there and left with a lovely Victoria Beckham LBD.
Now in its fourth year, the #SheInspiresMe fashion car boot sale is a fantastic way to grab a designer bargain while helping other women.
For one day, London Fashion Week favourite Brewer Street Car Park becomes the only place to shop. Forget Volvo estates filled with crusty bric-a-brac and foisty crimplene clothes, here you’ll find 50 cars filled with delights from the likes Alex Eagle, The Outnet, Maria Kastani, Niomi Smart, Alice Temperley, Charlotte Olympia Dellal – need I go on?
You’ll also be rubbing shoulders with celebrities eager to get their own bargain, too! Previous shoppers have included Lily Cole, Camilla Kerslake, Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley and Jade Parfitt.
And this year looks set to be better than ever.
“We have an even more incredible offering than ever before, with wonderful donations some of my most stylish friends and chicest brands,” says co-host Alex Eagle.
It’s all to raise money for the magnificent Women for Women International, which helps women victims of war rebuild their lives.
Since it began in 1993, Women for Women has helped 479,000 women survivors of war. These are women who have often lost everything and this brilliant charity helps them rebuild their lives and make their own futures.
Like Jennifer Georgeson and So Just Shop, Women on Women know that helping vulnerable women can change communities and so they help them learn marketable skills and give them valuable education on healthcare and their rights. Once this year-long course is over, they continue to support the women increase their capacity to earn and save in order to change both their lives and their communities.
There are not just accessories and shoes on offer. You can get your make-up done by the team at Charlotte Tilbury and there’ll also be food and drink via a pop-up from The Store, to rehydrate and refuel you throughout the day.
I went in 2017 and it was great fun. My friend and I wandered around the car boots oohing and aahing and admiring what other women were buying. It was such a positive experience, with shoppers happily chatting away to each other and sharing finds. If only all shopping could be like this!
Work commitments meant I couldn’t go last year, but I’ve got it in my diary and nothing is stopping me this time.
